Odisha’s retired IAS officer Priyabrata Patnaik passes away

Bhubaneswar: Priyabrata Patnaik, retired IAS officer of Odisha, passed away this morning at a private hospital in Mumbai, family sources said. He was 67.

He was suffering from cancer and undergoing treatment at the hospital. Efforts were on to bring the body back to Odisha, sources added.

The IAS Officers’ Assocition of Odisha today condoled the demise of the former bureaucrat.

“The members of IAS Association of Odisha are deeply saddened due to the untimely demise of Priyabrata Patnaik. He was a dynamic, courageous, decisive and a warm-hearted officer who earned praise and affection from all juniors and seniors alike,” Honorary Secretary Vishal Kumar Dev said in a statement.

The Association offers its deepest condolences to the members of his bereaved family and prays to the almighty for peace to the departed soul, the statement added.

Patnaik, who was a 1976-batch IAS officer, had served in various capacities including the chairman-cum-managing director of Infrastructure Development Corporation of Odisha (IDCO) in the rank of chief secretary.
