Bhubaneswar: Adding another feather to her cap, ace Odisha sprinter Dutee Chand won the Vogue award for Sportsperson of the Year.
Here’s what the fastest woman of India said at the award ceremony:
Dutee, who holds the national record in women’s 100m, has brought laurels to the country and state several times. Earlier this month, she clocked 11.22 seconds in the semi-final of women’s 100m event at the 59th National Open Athletics Championships-2019 held in Ranchi and broke the previous national record of 11.26 seconds, which was also set by her.
“My ultimate aim is to bring home the gold medal for India in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics,” she said.
Dutee has also been featured on the Vogue India magazine’s cover for the month of November.
