Odisha’s two kickboxers strive to take part in Wako World Championships in Hungary

Bhubaneswar: Odisha’s two kickboxers Satyapriya Patra and Jitendra Kumar Rout qualified to represent India in the upcoming Wako World Kickboxing Championships scheduled from November 3 to 12 in Budapest in Hungary are now striving to take part in the event.

The lack of finance poses as the biggest hindrance on their way to the world cup.

While Satyapriya (29) has been qualified to participate in the category of above 90 kg, the 19-year Jitendra has been selected for below 75 kg category of the Wako World Kickboxing Championships (Seniors and Masters) including all disciplines.

However, they have no money to bear their flight ticket, VISA fee, accommodation and fooding expenses. Total cost of expenses for both the athletes for the event will be around Rs 1.40 lakh each.

Belonging to poor family, the kickboxers are unable to arrange money to bear his expenses for the upcoming event. Even, they are short of money for registering in the competition.

They need to deposit Rs 60,000 for the competition in first installment by September 15. But, both are now in trauma to arrange for the first installment amount to deposit.

Althrough, Satyapriya and Jitendra have been qualified for the world cup in kickboxing, there is no single sponsor to help them for their trip to Hungary.

They are waiting for assistance from both government and private organisations to represent India in World Kickboxing Championships.
