Odisha’s Utkal University to get second campus in Chandikhole

Bhubaneswar: Odisha government has expedited the land identification process to set up the second (rural) campus of Utkal University in Chandikhole in Jajpur district.

The government has identified 66.30 acre in Siha panchayat, 12 km away from Chandikhole. A team of university will visit the site today for review.

According to reports, the varsity’s rural campus will be established on 66.30 acre with offering new courses. The construction work will start after completion of entire process and getting nod from revenue department.

A five-member team including Utkal University Registrar Manmath Biswal had visited the site yesterday and discussed with the elected representatives of the area and revenue officials.

The Higher Education department has taken the possession of land identified for the rural campus in Chandikhole. The varsity officials have made assessment during their visits to the site many times. The final report along with blueprint and allocation proposal will be submitted to the government for the campus, said Biswal.

Earlier, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik had announced the second campus of the university during foundation day ceremony of the students’ union two years ago.
