Bhubaneswar, May 10:

A week after Odisha’s Utkal University website was hacked allegedly by a Pakistani group, the e-admission website of the premier university has been hacked again.

A Dubai based hacker named ‘Ahmad Chanda’ claimed credits for the incident in a Facebook post.

Any resultant data theft, however, could not be ascertained by university authorities.

Even though the website has been taken down for maintenance, the hacking has marred the e-admission process. A PG council meeting will be held later today to find out a workaround, said Utkal University Vice Chancellor Ashoka Kumar Das.

“This is an admission website, so the hacker was probably trying to take out personal information of students. As of now, we have taken down the website and I cannot say what damages exactly have been done. A PG council meeting will be held today to ensure that the students are not affected,” said Das.

The university authorities are likely to lodge a fresh complaint today.

Even though the Crime Branch Cyber Cell is yet to complete the first hacking incident, they are fully prepared to investigate the fresh case, said Crime Branch Special DG BK Sharma.
