Odisha’s Utkal varsity rolls back hiked fees after student unrest

Hiked hostel fee in Utkal University here was rolled back today after M. Phil students of the varsity gheraoed the Vice Chancellor’s office protesting the hike.

The students had earlier requested the university authorities thrice to roll back the hiked fees but in vain, sources said.

While the hostel fee for a student was Rs 6,500 earlier, it was increased to Rs 9,800 recently.

Following today’s agitation by the students, the fee was brought down to Rs 7,650.
