OFDC holds meeting to lift ban on Odisha actor Manoj Mishra

Bhubaneswar: The Utkal Cine Chambers of Commerce (UCCC) has agreed to lift the two-year ban on actor Manoj Mishra.

This was revealed at a meeting called by Odisha Film Development Corporation (OFDC) chairperson Satyabrata Tripathy to solve issues with regard to the ban on the actor.

The UCCC had earlier announced that it would boycott the actor for two years over a dispute pertaining to the screening of two Odia movies during this year’s Dussehra.

Notably, Mishra’s movie ‘Mindgame’ clashed with actor Arindam Roy’s movie ‘Ram’ during the festival.

There were allegations that supporters of Mishra had obstructed the screening of movie ‘Ram’ at Sambalpur and a few other places in the Western Odisha over some issues.

Subsequently, the UCCC had imposed a two-year ban on Mishra. However, the Odisha Film Producers and Distributors Guild, another group of producers, did not support the ban on Mishra.

Secretary of the guild Arun Mohanty had made it clear that Mishra is free to work in their films.

Odisha Film Producers Association president Tutu Nayak, Odisha Cine Artistes Association secretary Sritam Das and actor Arindam Roy among others participated in the meeting called by the OFDC chairman. However, actor Manoj Mishra was absent in the meeting.

“The UCCC has agreed to lift the ban on actor Manoj Mishra. A decision to this effect was taken at today’s meeting,” Tripathy said.
