OHRC asks Odisha govt to give compensation to injured migrant boy

Bhubaneswar, Aug 11: The Odisha Human Rights Commission (OHRC) today directed the state government to provide compensation of Rs 50,000 to the injured minor boy of Bolangir district within four weeks.

Apart from directing the Labour and Employment department to pay compensation to the minor boy, the Commission also asked the Bolangir district collector to take immediate steps for proper rehabilitation of the family of the injured boy.

The Commission also directed the Labour commissioner to appear in person and submit a detailed report on the migrant labourers of the state.

The injured boy, Sushant Kumbhar (10) had serious injuries on his left hand after he was attacked by an iron rod by the brick kiln owner at Khandeyarnepali under Sedam police station limits of Gulbarga district of Karnataka where he and his family members of Kadalimunda village in Patnagarh block of Balangir district had gone for work.

The incident had taken place in November last year.
