Omicron: Two planetariums in Odisha to remain shut for visitors from tomorrow

Bhubaneswar: In view of surge in Omicron cases in Odisha, authorities closed two planetariums for visitors for a period of three days from tomorrow in the State.

“Pathani Samanta Planetarium, Bhubaneswar and Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Planetarium, Burla will remain temporarily closed for visitors with effect from 31st December 2021 to 2nd January 2022 as a precautionary measure against spread of new Covid variant Omicron which has been cause of concern for the state, a notification stated today.

As part of precautionary measures in view of huge crowd at various places ahead of New Year, the State Government has already banned Zero Night celebration in the State.

On the other hand, the restrictions have been imposed on devotees preventing them to visit the Jagannath Temple in Puri on December 31, January 1 and 2 in Puri. Also, no public darshan will be allowed at Maa Mangala Temple in Kakatpur January 1 and 2 in view of rise in daily COVID cases due to Omicron strain.
