One killed as truck falls off bridge in Odisha

On person was killed and another sustained grievous injuries after a truck fell off an overbridge and landed on railway track late on Friday night in Odisha’s Rayagada.

According to reports, a Muniguda-bound truck skidded off an overbridge near Chatikana under Bisamkatak police station limits in the district and fell on the railway track. A goods train passing through the route rammed into the truck killing the helper of the truck on the spot.

The driver of the ill-fated truck sustained grievous injuries following which he was rushed to MKCG Medical College and Hospital, Berhampur for treatment.

His condition is stated to be critical.

Train services on the route have been hit as the mangled truck has caused damage to the tracks.

Following the incident, irate locals staged a road blockade near the accident site as frequent accidents are happening near the overbridge.
