One person was killed and four others sustained grievous injuries in an accidental explosion in front of a medicine shop in Daspalla in Odisha’s Nayagarh district this morning.
Preliminary investigation revealed that a man carrying explosive materials in a bag exploded accidentally in front of Patitapaban Medicine Stotre in Durga Bazar area in Daspalla town this morning. While the man with the explosive materials died on the spot, four persons sutained grievous injuries in the incidnet.
Meanwhile, police have begun an investigation into the incident.
While two of the injured persons have been admitted to Daspalla Hospital, two others were shifted to Nayagarh District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) as their condition deteriorated. The deceased has been identified as Kanhucharan Nayak, police said.
“As per preliminary investiagion, an explosion occurred when a person carrying blasting materials blasted in front of a medicine store killing him and injuring four others. The man was a professional blaster and worked in stone quarries. It appears that it was not intentional, it was an accidental explosion,” Daspalla IIC Chakrapati Kanhar said.
