One more tested positive for COVID-19 in Odisha capital

Bhubaneswar: Blood and swab samples of another person have been tested positive for the deadly coronavirus (COVID-19)here today.

With this the total number of positive cases in Odisha increases to three and all of them are from Bhubaneswar, said state Health and Family Welfare Department.

Official sources said the latest COVID-19 positive case in Odisha is a 60 years old male. He had arrived at Bhubaneshwar Airport From Delhi at 7 pm on March 10 by an Indigo flight. He was later admitted to Kar Clinic here on 24th and was in ICU for a day.

Following the reports, the Health and Family Welfare Department urged the management of Kar Clinic to take all possible measures to isolate the doctors, nurses and everyone else  who had attended the patient and come in his contact with him. The person had earlier visited the OPD of Kar Clinic on March 21.

Based on the contact history of the third positive case, the department has also urged people not to visit the private clinic for outpatient and inpatient care.

“In spite of repeated advisory, some private health care facilities are not complying with the COVID 19 regulations . Government urges them to act responsibly and follow the regulations while treating patients with flu like symptoms. Non compliance shall be viewed seriously,” the department said in a tweet.

Earlier on March 19, a youth from Bhubaneswar after his return from UK was found positive . Currently he is undergoing treatment at AIIMS, Bhubaneswar. Prior to this, Odisha reported the first confirmed case after a 33-year-old man from Bhubaneswar was tested positive for COVID-19 on March 16.  He had returned to India from Italy on March 6. He has been admitted to Capital Hospital. Condition of both are stated to be stable.
