One more Odisha cop arrested for betraying woman after developing intimacy

Khallikote: Blot on Khaki again! A week after the IIC of Biramitrapur police station in Sundargarh district was arrested in connection with the rape and abortion of a minor girl, another cop has been arrested in Ganjam district for betraying a woman after keeping physical relationship with her on assurance of marriage.

The shameful incident has been reported from Bhejiput area under Khallikote police limits in the district. However, police arrested accused police officer Tuna Pidika, posted at Bhejiput police outpost, yesterday.

As per the complaint, the accused had developed intimacy with a woman of Bhubaneswar on the pretext of marrying her. But he later refused to marry her. When the victim got to know about the cop being engaged with another woman, she went to the police outpost to meet him. However, the cop allegedly misbehaved with her there.

Later on July 3, a case was registered at Khallikote police station in this connection. To avoid arrest , the accused again assured the woman to marry her and convinced her to change her statement in court. Believing him, the woman changed her statement in court. Following this, the accused again refused to marry her and also threatened her of dire consequences.

Left helpless, the  victim knocked the doors of Ganjam SP Brijesh Ray seeking justice. The SP directed Additional SP Thakur Prasad Patra to probe the matter. Based on evidences collected during the investigation, police arrested the accused yesterday.
