One more succumbs to JE; toll mounts to 98 in Odisha’s Malkangiri

Malkangiri, Nov 8:

Killer Japanese Encephalitis claimed life of one more child in Odisha’s Malkangiri today hiking the death toll in the vector-borne disese to 98 in 61 days.

The deceased was identified as Laxmi Ogel (1.5) of Sahadaguda village under Padia block in the district.

The girl child succumbed while undergoing treatment at the ICU of the District Headquarters Hospital.

Meanwhile, Zilla Adivasi Samaj Mahasangh resorted to a 12-hour Malkangiri bandh today over the deaths of children due to Japanese Encephalitis in the district.

Odisha Health Services Director Kailash Chandra Dash had yesterday said that a microbiological team is scheduled to visit visit the affected areas soon and take stock of the situation.
