Only police contingent to take part in Republic Day ceremony in Odisha this year

Bhubaneswar: With an aim to ensure maximum safety of guest and participants in the Republic Day 2022 celebration, the Odisha government issued a set of directive to the districts.

The Home Department wrote to District Collectors stating that only police contingents will participate in the Republic Day ceremony this year. Students and NCC cadets will not be allowed to take part in the ceremony.

Also, general public will not be allowed to participate in the celebration. Only limited number of guests will be invited to the celebration using e-invites, including selected Covid warriors such as doctors, health workers and sanitation workers.

The National Flag shall be unfurled by the Chief Guest after 8:30 AM followed by playing of the National Anthem. The home department will intimate about the chief guest later, the letter mentioned.

Social distancing norms, wearing masks etc are followed strictly by those attending the function. The venue must be well sanitised and a hand sanitiser be available at all entry points of the celebration venue, the letter read.
