OPD of SCB shut; two more nursing homes sealed in Odisha

Cuttack/Kendrapara: Authorities of the SCB Medical College & Hospital today shut its Out Patient Department (OPD) after detection of a COVID-19 patient at the premier medical institution in Cuttack city.

With a fresh COVID-19 case was reported from the SCB, the restriction has been imposed on entry to the hospital to prevent further spread of deadly virus.

Only vehicles carrying critical patients will be permitted to enter into the hospital, a source said.

Meanwhile, two nursing homes in Kendrapara district have been sealed for allegedly violating COVID-19 guidelines following raids.

A joint squad of Health Department conducted raids on 3-4 private clinics and nursing homes today. The institutions offering healthcare services were found flouting COVID rules following which we decided to close the OPD of two nursing homes, an official said.

The authorities also slapped fine amount of over Rs 1 lakh for violating COVID guidelines.
