Odisha: Oppositions call for statewide protest tomorrow alleging COVID-19 mismanagement

Bhubaneswar:  Alleging the state Government’s failure in management  of COVID-19 situation in Odisha, as many as 13 opposition parties under the leadership of Congress today called for a statewide protest tomorrow.

At a meeting held here this morning, the parties unanimously decided to resort to the protest.

In the state capital, political leaders will stage stir at Master Canteen here at around 11 AM tomorrow.  Besides, a delegation of the parties will meet the Governor to submit a memorandum to him in this regard. During the protest, they will demand steps required to be taken for protection of livelihoods of people.

At the meeting held today, the opposition parties alleged that the number of coronavirus cases have increased many folds in the country due to mismanagement and lack of vision of both the Centre and the state Government.

“Earlier in April, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik had announced that 15,000 samples will be  tested everyday, the number of tests being done does not even cross 4000 per day,” alleged a Congress leader. He also alleged that all migrants returning to the state are not being tested before they are sent to their respective houses.

This apart, Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC), responding to the party’s call for nationwide protest against fuel price hike, has decided to stage stir in the state on June 29.
