Over 100 students fall sick after consuming food in Odisha’s Balasore, probe ordered

Balasore: Over a hundred students fell sick after consuming food during a feast at Nityananda Saraswati Shisu Mandir School in Baliapal block here on the occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi.

As many as 123 sick students were admitted to different hospitals in the district on Saturday.

The district collector has ordered a probe by DPC.

According to reports, Around 250 students complained of vomiting and loose motion after they consumed food at the feast organised on the school premises on the occasion of holy Ganesh Chaturthi on Friday.

The school headmaster also fell ill after consuming the food.

While 72 students were admitted to Baliapal IDCO community health centre, 51 students were taken to Basta community health centre for treatment.

The condition of the students is stated to be stable.

The sick students are in good condition after they were given the injection, saline and medicines. Around 99 students have recovered and condition of others is improving, said a doctor at Baliapal IDCO CHC.
