The Maoist supporters, including men and women, from Badaliguda and Darabaguda villages under Kalimela surrendered to the police at the district headquarters here post noon in the presence of SP Mitrabhyanu Mohapatra.

The Malkangiri SP said the surrendered villagers would be provided assistance in line with the rehabilitation policy of the state government.

Notably, over 1000 supporters of the outlawed group have surrendered to the police in the district in the last one-and-half months.

It may be recalled that nearly 90 Maoist supporters from Badaliguda, including 10 militia and one village committee member, had surrendered to the police in the last week of September this year.

Besides, the Red rebels had called for bandh on September 25 in protest against the spate of surrenders terming it as fake and stage-managed.
