Pachyderms enter Odisha village, create panic

Panic prevailed in Brajabiharipur near CDA locality in Odisha’s Cuttack city after five elephants reportedly entered into the village.

These adult pachyderms from Athagarh area entered into the village after crossing Mahanadi river and have created terror among the locals, according to reports.

The locals are in panic after seeing foot prints of the elephants and hearing their rumbling noise. There have also been allegations of crop destruction and breaking of tree branches.

Police and forest department are conducting regular patrolling to avoid any untoward incident.

Last year, three elephants had come from Athagarh and stayed here for three days. After immense efforts by the forest department, they had finally crossed the Mahanadi and returned back to Athagarh region.
