Military spokesman Colonel Manish Mehta told IANS here that the Pakistani army “resorted to unprovoked shelling and firing at our positions” at 7.30 a.m. in Poonch district.

“They are using 82 mm mortars and automatics to target our positions in Mandi and Saujiyan sectors,” he said.

“Our troops are appropriately and effectively retaliating. Firing exchanges are still going on at these places,” he said.

The spokesman also said the Pakistanis had violated the ceasefire at the two sectors during the night too.

“They violated the ceasefire from midnight to 3 a.m. also. After that the shelling and firing stopped till 7.30 a.m. Now it has resumed.” (IANS)
