Pakistani national sent to nine days’ police custody

New Delhi, Aug 13 :

A court here Wednesday remanded suspected terrorist Arshad Khan, a Pakistani national, to nine days’ police custody in connection with the planning of terror strikes in India.

Additional Sessions Judge Reetesh Singh allowed Delhi Police to quiz Khan till Aug 21.

“Accused Arshad Khan is to be interrogated to unearth the conspiracy for executing terrorist strikes in Delhi and neighbouring areas and also to know the penetration of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) in Delhi and other parts of India,” Delhi Police counsel told the court.

Counsel said Khan is to be quizzed about another accused Javed Baluchi based in Pakistan and other people involved in the conspiracy.

Khan was present in the court here after a production warrant was issued Aug 11.

Khan was lodged in Kolkata jail in connection with the 2001 kidnapping of shoe baron Partha Roy Burman.

Appearing on behalf of Khan, advocate M.S. Khan opposed the police plea.
