Paralakhemundi, Aug 23:

A day after Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik ordered a Crime Branch probe into the mysterious deaths of Parala Maharaj’s former manager Anang Manjari Patra and her three siblings, a Special Investigation Team (SIT) of the agency reached Paralakhemundi today to investigate into the incident.

CB probe

The 7-member team, led by Additional SP RB Panigrahi, will probe into six cases, sources said. The SIT is being assisted by a team from the State Forensic Science Laboratory, sources added.

The team held discussions with Gajapati SP and Paralakhemundi SDPO after reaching here.

As the number of cases has gone up in the incident, the strength of the SIT will be increased to 10 members, said Crime Branch Special DG BK Sharma.

Notably, Parala Maharaja Gopinath Gajapati Narayan Deb’s former manager Anang Manjari Patra and her siblings– Bijaylaxmi Patra and Sanjay Patra– were found dead inside their house at Jangama Sahi here on August 21. While Sanjay Patra was found hanging in the drawing room, Anang Manjari Patra and her sister Bijaylaxmi Patra were found dead in another room. Santosh Patra alias Tulu — brother of deceased— was rescued from the house in a critical condition and admitted to MKCG Medical College and Hospital.

However, Santosh took his last breath at the hospital while undergoing treatment yesterday.

Worth mentioning, the former manager and her brother Sanjay were accused of financial misappropriation pertaining to the property transactions of Parala Maharaja.
