Pari murder case: SIT denied to conduct LVA test on juvenile accused

Nayagarh: The Special Investigation Team (SIT) again faced disappointment in sensational Pari murder case after a local court in Nayagarh district denied to allow it to conduct the Layered Voice Analysis (LVA) test on the juvenile accused.

Judge Itishree Mohapatra of Children’s Court, Nayagarh, on Friday did not allow the SIT headed by senior IPS officer Arun Bothra for the scientific test on the minor boy.

The Children’s Court did not grant permission to the SIT due to lack of its foresight, said Advocate Ranjit Dash.

As per the rule, police or any investigating agency is not allowed to take the accused on remand again after submission of chargesheet before the court. The SIT has filed chargesheet in Pari murder case on February 15. Prior to it, the SIT had applied for the LVA test. The special committee formed for investigation into the sensational murder case was required to mention about its proposal for LVA test in the chargesheet. As the SIT did not follow the procedure, it was not allowed to carry out the scientific test to collect more evidence against the accused.

Earlier, the SIT was not allowed to conduct narco analysis and brain mapping tests on the accused.

The SIT had cracked the murder case in December last year. Following arrest of the accused, the investigating agency had produced him before the POCSO court in Nayagarh. After he was proved as a juvenile, the case was transferred to the Juvenile Justice Board.

As the accused belongs to the age group of 16-18 years, the Juvenile Justice Board transferred the case to the Nayagarh Children’s Court.
