Patient dies after falling from AIIMS Bhubaneswar building

Bhubaneswar: In a shocking incident, a patient undergoing treatment at the AIIMS Bhubaneswar died after falling from sixth floor of the building here late on Saturday night.

The deceased was identified as Satyajit Mohanty (32), a resident of Jakara area in Khordha district.

According to reports, the youth was admitted to the country’s premier medical institution in Bhubaneswar for treatment after he fell ill due to excessive intake of alcohol on Jan 17. Initially, he was admitted to the Khordha District Hospital. Later, he was referred to the AIIMS on outskirts of the city.

Satyajit was kept in the ICU four days ago.

Sources said that after the patient’s condition improved, he wanted to get out from the hospital.

He is suspected to have taken such an extreme step after losing his mental stability. He fell from the 6th floor by breaking the window glass of the hospital.

However, the cause behind the death is yet to be ascertained.
