Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today flagged off battery-operated Mo Bus (e-bus) and e-rickshaw in the capital city.
The buses will initially ply in four routes of Mo Bus service– 9, 11, 12 and 23. All e-buses will be air conditioned with reserved pink-coloured seats for women.
In the first phase, 10 e-buses and 50 e-rickshaws will ferry passengers while the number of e-buses will be increased to 50 in the coming days.
Fifty percent of the e-bus guides will be women while e-rickshaws will be driven by women and transgenders.
As an inaugural offer, passengers can avail ride in e-buses free of cost on July 29, 30 and 31.
The initiative will create more than 500 employment opportunities in the coming days, said Capital Region Urban Transport (CRUT).
The ticket price of e-buses will be same as regular AC Mo Bus. On the other, the e-rickshaw service will be available in various routes in Patia, Patrapada and Pokhariput areas of Bhubaneswar with flat fare of Rs 10.
