Phulbani remains coldest place in Odisha at 2.4 degrees

Phulbani continued to be the coldest place in Odisha on Sunday with the mercury touching 2.4 degree Celsius, marginally above the 10-year low of 1.6 degrees recorded yesterday.

The temperature in the district headquarters town is at least five degrees below normal, the weatherman says. Daringbadi, normally the coldest place in the district, has seen snowfall in the last couple of days though the temperature thereat 6 degrees is considerably lower than that in Phulbani.

According to a release by the local Met office here this evening, temperature remained below 10 degrees in Jharsuguda (9.8), Keonjhar (7.1), Sundargarh (7.9), Hirakud (8), Bhawanipatna (8.5), Bolangir (8), Koraput (6.5), Titlagarh (9) and Malkangiri (9.6).

Places where the temperature remained between 10 and 13 degree Celsius are Baleswar (11.4), Chandbali (12.4), Cuttack (12.2), Bhubaneswar (11.8), Gopalpur (13.3), Angul (10.6), Baripada (10.5), Sambalpur (10.3) and Talcher (10).

With the northerly wind blowing across Odisha, there is no let up in the cold wave in the state. The Met office has predicted that the cold wave condition would continue till next week up to December 29.
