Picnic bus from Bhubaneswar hits hyva truck; 2 dead, over 20 injured

Cuttack: Two persons were killed and over 20 injured after the bus they were travelling in for a picnic to Gorakhnath in Jagatsinghpur from Bhubaneswar collided head-on with a hyva truck near Kamarapada in Salepur here today.

The two deceased were the driver of hyva truck and helper of the bus.

Sources said the the picnickers from Sailashree vihar in Bhubaneswar were going to Gorakhnath in Paradip of Jagatsinghpur, a hyva truck coming from opposite direction collided head on with the bus near Kamarapada at around 7 AM today. The two vehicles later overturned. While the two died on the spot, 20 passengers, who sustained injuries in the mishap, were admitted to hospital. Among the 20, seven critically-injured were later shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital here.

Meanwhile, Kishannagar police reached the spot and began an investigation into the incident.
