Pipili By-Poll: CEO issues gazette notification

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) today issued a gazette notification for the ensuing by-poll to Pipili Assembly Constituency, scheduled to be held on April 17.

The CEO directed the District Electoral Officer (DEO) and Collector to initiate necessary steps in this regard. The Election Commission of India (ECI) has fixed timing of polling from 7 AM to 6 PM on the scheduled day.

The last date for filing of nomination papers is March 30 while the nominations will be scrutinized on March 31. The last date for withdrawal of candidatures is April 3. Counting of votes will take place on May 2 and the results will be declared the same day.

By-poll to the constituency was necessitated after demise of former BJD strongman and seven-time MLA late Pradeep Maharathy, who passed away while undergoing treatment at a hospital here on October 4 last year.
