Bhubaneswar, Jun 16:
Commissionerate Police today served summons to Chitra Athwani to appear before it within 14 days for interrogation in connection with the stay of PK Iyer, vice chairman of Deccan Chronicle (DC) Group, who was staying in a room booked in her name at Hotel Trident in the Odisha capital.
The summons has been sent to Athwani at her Darbhanga address in Bihar, police sources said.
After the arrest of Iyer on June 6 this year, Twin City commissioner of police Dr RP Sharma had informed the media that the police would summon Athwani to give her statement to the police in the case.
The police, during investigation, came to know that the room in which Iyer was living was booked in Chitra Athwani’s name. She also stayed in the hotel for sometime.
Sources in the commissionerate police said Iyer had first arrived at the hotel with Chitra at about 2 AM on February 14. They had stayed together for 10 days before Chitra left the hotel.
Iyer, however, booked a hotel room in the same hotel in her name and continued to stay.
So far, the police have discovered that Mumbai girl Chitra works as an air hostess and shared a very good rapport with Iyer.
