Playwright Bijay Mishra receives Kendra Sahitya Akademi Award

Eminent Odia playwright Bijay Mishra was conferred with the Kendra Sahitya Akademi Award for the year 2013 for his play ‘Vanaprastha’.

Including Mishra, 24 eminent litterateurs were also conferred with the award at a function here last evening.

The award carries a cash prize of Rs 1 lakh, a citation, trophy and a shawl.

“It is not a big issue whether you receive the award late or early. Receiving an award is definitely a great feeling and I am really happy with this award for which I give immense credit to the readers”, Mishra said.

It may be mentioned that prior to this award, Mishra has received Kendra Sangeet Natak Akademi Award and Odisha Sahitya Akademi Award.

The function, presided over by the president of the Akademi Biswanath Prasad Tiwari, was graced by eminent poet and Jnanapeeth awardee Dr Ramakant Rath who was the chief guest at the awards ceremony.
