A day after the 488 and 662 category of Non-Government Aided College lecturers of Odisha announced suspension of their agitation, answer paper evaluation of Plus Two examination returned to normalcy today.

Plus Two CHSE Evaluation

The lecturers of the Block Grant colleges along with others today reported to their assigned valuation centers as promised yesterday.

With the agitating lecturers back in evaluation centres, Council of Higher Secondary Education (CHSE) said that it would stop hiring fresh services from lecturers of private colleges, Kendriya Vidyalayas, Navodaya Vidyalayas and other technical institutions starting today.

“Following our announcement seeking alternate arrangements, some of the lecturers from various private colleges, Kendriya Vidyalayas and Navodaya Vidyalayas had reported to several valuation centers yesterday. We don’t want to turn them back. They will continue as usual. However, we won’t rope in more of those lecturers henceforth,” said CHSE Chairperson Basudev Chhatoi speaking to reporters today.

Chhatoi also said that he expects the evaluation to be complete on time.

“The Block Grant lecturers have started reporting to evaluation centers. We are trying our best to make up for the lost time. The first phase valuation would be extended by two-three days and the three-day gap between the first and second phase of answer paper evaluation would be cancelled. We are hopeful that the evaluation would be completed on time and the results would also be published on time,” he added.

Notably, after a six-day-long deadlock between the agitating Block Grant lecturers and Odisha Government over demands of full grant-in-aid and abolition of block grant system, the lecturers yesterday announced suspension of their agitation and assured the Odisha Government that they will cooperate in the ongoing Plus Two examination answer paper evaluation starting today.
