Police bust yet another sex racket in Odisha capital

Bhubaneswar, Aug 5:

The Commissionerate Police in Odisha on Tuesday evening busted a flesh trade racket and rescued a 19-year old girl during a raid on a house in BJB Nagar area under Badagada police limits here.

Three persons, including a 60-year-old woman and her 42-year-old son, were allegedly running a sex racket from this house, police sources said.

The accused, identified as Janakilata Bhuyan and her son Manoranjan Bhuyan, have been taken into custody.

Acting on a tip off, the Laxmisagar IIC along with his team under the active supervision of zonal ACP Akshay Mishra,  raided the residence of Janakilata and arrested her and her son for allegedly running flesh trade in their house, located in an isolated corner in BJB Nagar area.

Police, however, failed to arrest the kingpin of the racket Gopi who managed to escape from the spot getting cops. Search is on to nab Padhi.

He had been arrested several times earlier on the same charges, police said.

A 19-year old girl  from West Bengal, who was used for  flesh trade, was rescue  from the house.

She will be sent to a short stay home here tomorrow after a formal interrogation, police said.

Interrogation of the mother and son duo is on to ascertain if other people were also involved in the racket.

They will be forwarded to a local court tomorrow, the zonal ACP said.
