Police intensify patrol in Brahmagiri after fresh incidents of bombing

Brahmagiri (Puri), Apr 19:

Police have intensified its patrolling in the Brahmagiri area in Odisha’s Puri district with fresh reports of hurling of country made bombs today in the Bidurabanga village under Brahmagiri police limits. While the area’s streets wore a deserted look and the doors and windows of most houses shut, men in uniform marched along the streets.

Two groups owing allegiance to rival political parties clashed in Bidurabanga village under Brahmagiri police limits on Friday over exchange of comments between them. The situation turned violent around 8 pm in the evening when they lobbed country-made bombs at each other.

Seven persons including two women sustained serious injuries in the bomb attacks.

While Sudhakar Pradhan (28), Kombhu Pradhan (60), Bikram Pradhan (25), Chaila Pradhan (45), Congress Pradhan (30) were seriously injured in the clash, two women Manini Pradhan (33) and Manju Pradhan (35) who were passing by also sustained severe injuries.

The situation was brought under control as the Brahmagiri police headed by IIC Subash Chandra Panda rushed to the spot.

Police has seized broken bricks, stones and remains of the bombs from the spot. The injured have been shifted to hospitals.

It may be mentioned that the Bharmagiri-Delanga road passes through this village.
