Police, Maoists exchange fire in forest in Odisha; explosives seized

An exchange of fire took place between security forces and Maoists at Samarjhola forest under Ambadala police limits in Odisha’s Rayagada district last night, informed SP K.Siva Subramani today.

According to reports, the security forces spotted a Maoist camp last night during combing operation following which the gun battle ensued.

While the Maoist camp was destroyed and the red rebels ran helter-skelter, 50 kg Ammonium nitrate, 100 electronic detonators, live bullets and SLR magazines were seized from the spot, Rayagada SP said.

No casualties have been reported in the incident.
