By-poll for Kandhamal MP seat in Odisha on Oct 15

Chief Election Commissioner V S Sampath today announced that the by-election to the Kandhamal Lok Sabha in Odisha, which fell vacant following the sudden demise of Hemendra Chandra Singh on September 5, will be held on October 15.

Sampath informed that a notification in this regard will be issued on September 19.

While September 26 would be the last date for filing of nomination papers, September 27 is the date for scrutiny of nominations and September 29 is the date for withdrawal of nominations, the CEC said.

He said while elections will be held on October 15 and counting will take place on October 19.

The Model Code of Conduct would come into effect immediately for all the seats going to polls, Sampath said.
