Post-poll violence: One killed, another injured in Odisha’s Ganjam

In yet another incident of post-poll violence in Odisha, a person was killed and his friend sustained critical injuries in a murderous attack by a group of miscreants in Ganjam district last night.

The deceased was identified as Ashok Jena, brother of Kukudahandi block BJD president Sanyasi Jena.

Ashok’s friend Srinivas Swain was grievously injured in the attack and has been admitted to a private hospital in Visakhapatnam.

Sanyasi has alleged that some Congress workers attacked the duo over dispute during the panchayat polls.

According to reports, 20-25 persons, armed with sharp weapons, attacked Ashok and Srinivas at around 11 PM when they were returning home.

Both were admitted to MKCG Medical College and Hospital here in a critical condition and later shifted to a private hospital in Visakhapatnam where Ashok was declared brought dead.
