Submit audit report on ex DGP, Odisha HC tells Vigilance

Odisha Sun Times Bureau
Cuttack, Mar 12:

The Odisha High Court today directed the State Vigilance to submit the internal audit report on financial irregularities during the tenure of former Director General of Police (DGP) Prakash Mishra, who was the chairman of the Odisha State Police Housing and Welfare Corporation (OSPH&WC) from 2006-09.

The directive of the court came in response to the argument of Mishra’s  advocate Sanjit Mohanty, who drew the attention of the court to the fact that the Home department then had in a report commented that a case cannot be framed against Mishra on the basis of the facts in the internal audit report of the Corporation. Despite this, the State Vigilance had deliberately registered a case against him to prevent his appointment as the CBI director,  the counsel argued.

The court asked the State Vigilance to submit the report of the Home department on the internal audit report of the Corporation as well as the internal audit report by March 24, the next date of hearing in the case.
