Bhubaneswar, Mar 19:
Protests and demonstrations by the party workers of Bijepur against the candidature of finance minister Prasanna Acharya for the Assembly elections has put the ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) in a fix.
On the other hand, the supporters of Acharya have urged the party leadership to allow their leader to contest from his old seat Redhakhol.
Sources in the party circles said Acharya had a discussion with the party supremo and chief minister Naveen Patnaik at his residence Naveen Niwas on Tuesday night on this issue.
Later, he reportedly told his supporters at his residence, he would prefer to work for the party organization since he was not interested to contest from Bijepur.
The decision of the senior BJD leader and party vice-president would be known only after he makes a public statement, said sources in the party.
However, Acharya was not available for comments.
