Pre-poll violence leaves father-son duo critical in Odisha’s Nuapada

Nuapada: A face-off between BJD and BJP workers in Odisha’s Nuapada district ahead of the Zilla Parishad zone-2 election scheduled to be held on July 20 has left a person and his son critically injured.

The victims, identified as Ram Naresh Ahir, a BJD candidate, and his son Sushil, have been hospitalised.

While Ram Naresh is undergoing treatment at the Nuapada district headquarters hospital, Sushil has been shifted to Raipur in Chhattisgarh.

The clash between the workers of the conch party and saffron party ensued last night in Lakhna area here, reports said.

Two separate complaints in this regard has been lodged by the two sides at the Lakhna police station, reports added.
