Pre-poll violence: Sarpanch candidate’s husband killed in Odisha

Ahead of upcoming panchayat elections across Odisha, a woman Sarpanch candidate’s husband was viciously killed in Udala of Mayurbhanj district.

The deceased was identified as Uttam Biswal, husband of Sumati Biswal, who is contesting the polls for the sarpanch post in Khaladi panchayat under Udala block.

According to reports, Uttam Biswal was crushed to death on Wednesday night. He was working with Kharagpur railway office. Since his wife had filed nomination for the post of sarpanch, he had visited his home.

Tension erupted in the area this morning by the protesters blocking Udala-Baripada road after the dead body was recovered from a hut near Patapur chhak.
