Pregnant woman dies after delay in ambulance arrival in Odisha’s Balasore

Balasore: In an unfortunate incident, a pregnant woman died allegedly after ambulance failed to turn up in time at Kansa village under Nilagiri police limits in Odisha’s Balasore district late last night.

According to reports, Basanti, wife of Sanjay Nayak, complained of labour pain around 8 pm following which he telephoned for 102-Ambulance service. However, no ambulance arrived till 12 AM.

Nayak then sought the service of 108-Ambulance and the emergency vehicle reached the village around 12.45 AM. The woman was admitted to the Nilagiri sub-divisional hospital around 1.30 AM and the expectant mother later died while undergoing treatment.

Family members of the deceased woman have alleged that delay in ambulance arrival led to her death.
