Prisoner serving life term found hanging at jail in Odisha’s Boudh

Boudh: A murder case convict serving life imprisonment was found hanging at the Special Sub-Jail in Odisha’s Boudh district, last night.

The deceased was identified as Ravindra Meher of Jamaghati village under Baunsuni police limits.

According to reports, he went to the bathroom of the jail after having dinner. Later, some prisoners found his body hanging from the bathroom ceiling with a gamcha. It is being suspected that he took the extreme step of dying by suicide.

The body was recovered by police and sent for post-mortem to the district headquarters hospital.

He was reportedly undergoing treatment for mental illness.

Meher was arrested in 2015 in a murder case while he was convicted by a court and sentenced to life imprisonment in 2018.
