Private bus fares hiked once again in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: Following hike in petrol and diesel prices for the sixth consecutive day today, private bus fares across all categories increased once again in the state.

The fares of Ordinary and Express buses have been increased by one paisa per kilometre and by two paise per kilometre for Deluxe and AC Deluxe buses. Following the revision, ticket prices of Ordinary, Express, Deluxe and AC Deluxe buses increased to 73 paise, 76 paise, 107 paise and 129 paise per km, respectively.

Earlier on July 1, the private bus fares were increased by two paise per kilometre for Ordinary and Express buses and four paise per kilometre for Deluxe and AC Deluxe buses.

It is pertinent to mention here that the fuel prices have remained two years high after the latest hike. According to the automatic mechanism system, Bus fares are increased by one paisa for every Rs 2 hike in the fuel prices.
