Private Bus fares increased again in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: After constant rise in fuel prices, ticket prices of private buses across all categories have once again increased in Odisha with effect from today through automatic mechanism system .

The fares of Ordinary and Express buses have been increased by two paise per kilometre and by four paise per kilometre for Deluxe and AC Deluxe buses. Following the revision, ticket prices of Ordinary, Express, Deluxe and AC Deluxe buses increased to 72 paise per km, 75 paise per km, 105 paise per km and 127 paise per km, respectively.

“Due to increase in price of diesel from Rs 73.42 per litre on June 16 to Rs 78.67 per litre on July 1, which led to increase in price by an amount equal to Rs 5.25 in direct and Rs 5.56 in cumulative  (including carryover), the fare for stage carriages other than town buses plying within the state will be fixed at an increased rate with effect from July 1,” said a communique issued by the Transport Commissioner.

The bus fares were last increased in the state on June 16. According to the automatic mechanism system, bus fares are increased by one paisa for every Rs 2 hike in fuel prices.
