Process for another cadaveric kidney transplant on in Odisha Capital

Bhubaneswar: After the successful cadaveric kidney transplant at the SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack for the first time in Odisha earlier this month, the process for a similar type of transplant is on at a private hospital in Bhubaneswar.

As per reports, one Suchitra Das was admitted to Apollo Hospitals in Bhubaneswar. The woman was undergoing treatment at the bed number 550 of the hospital. While undergoing treatment, doctors at Apollo Hospitals declared her brain dead. With the consent of family members of the woman to donate her organs, the hospital authorities today began the process for cadaveric kidney transplant.

Sources said one kidney of the woman will be taken to AMRI Hospital in Bhubaneswar for transplantation while the other one will be transplanted to a patient at Apollo Hospitals.

Worth mentioning, a team of the SCB hospital successfully transplanted two kidneys of Priyanka Patra who was declared brain dead in the first week of February. This was the first successful cadaveric kidney transplant of the State.
