Puri: Even as preparations are in full swing for the world famous Rath Yatra, the busting of fake 'Mahaprasad' or 'Abhada'(the holy offering made to Lord Jagannath and his siblings) by miscreants in Puri has fuelled immense resentment among devotees after the shocking incident came to the fore on Friday.

On Saturday, the Suara Mahasuara Nijog filed a complaint with Simhadwara police and demanded strict action against those involved in maligning the name of Lord Jagannath. A case has been registered, official sources said.

The incident came to light after preparation of fake ‘Mahaprasad’ was seen being undertaken under a tent in an open field in Paika Sahi area of the pilgrim city on Friday. Sources said there were many earthern pots filled with items like Anna, Dal served as Abhada and the accused persons managed to escape on seeing mediapersons arrive at the spot. The servitors of the Srimandir also got the information from locals soon after some images and videos went viral.
