The NIA in its report has further told the court that accused Ramachandran Subash had alone caused the incident and no other person was involved in the act, sources revealed.

Ramachandran Subash being a person of unsound mind had set afire trains, the NIA has cited in its report to the court.

Since no terror link has been found in the incident, the Government Railway Police (GRP) should conduct the investigations as per the provisions of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), the NIA in its report is said to have told the court.

It may be recalled that three trains which were parked at the Puri railway station had caught fire. Police had arrested Ramachandran Subash for having set fire to three express trains in which five bogies were reduced to ashes even though there were no casualties.

Since similar instances of burning of trains were reported from Haridwar and Gaya it was suspected that it could be a handiwork of terrorists. Therefore on the basis of the state police’s recommendation the Union Home Ministry had directed the NIA to probe the case.
