Purnima Vrat is a fasting observed during purnima (full moon day) that occurs in the first fortnight (Shukla Paksha) of hindu lunar month.

Purnima Vrat March 2022 Date: March 17, Thursday.

Purnima tithi timing: Mar 17, 1:30 pm to Mar 18, 12:47 pm.

Rituals: Devotees wake up early in the morning and take bath. The fasting is observed from early sun rise till the moon rise on Purnima.

Devotees who strictly observe the Purnima Vrat usually fast by not eating or drinking anything.

Partial fasting can also be observed by eating one meal devoid of salt and pulses.

After the moon is sighted, devotees perform Puja to their favorite God and break the fast after consuming Prasads.

The Purnima Vrat begins on Purnima day or on Chaturdashi (previous day of Purnima) depending upon the starting time of the Purnima tithi. Purnima Vrat will be observed on Chaturdashi only if the Purnima Tithi begins at the Madhyanha period of the previous day.

Significance: It is believed that observing the Purnima Vrat brings good fortune and health to the observers.
