Python caught in fishing net, rescued in Odisha

Sambalpur: A huge python was caught in a fishing net and later rescued by a youth here in Sambalpur district today.

The injured reptile was taken to veterinary for treatment following which it was released into forest.

According to reports, the snake was trapped in the fishing net laid by the locals to catch fishes from a pothole filled in rain water at Bhatra village in Sambalpur district.

The python was found entangled in the fishing net. While the locals were panicked to see the snake, a youth identified as Anil Maharana came forward to rescue it from the net. He cut the fishing net with a razor blade and saved it.

He took the snake to a nearby veterinary hospital as some injury marks were found on its body. The python was released into forest following treatment.
